FORD POWER STROKE AMSOIL PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS(6.0L, 6.4L, 7.3L) The 6.0L Power Stroke uses a canister element oil filter on top of the engine. The AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Synthetic Oil Filter for the 6.0 PSD is Part #EAO-88. The 1994-2003 7.3L Power Stroke Oil Filter Part # is EAO-99. and have a change interval specification of 25,000-miles/1-year. No other company has an oil filter that has these specifications except AMSOIL. When using the AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel oil or the Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel oil, the oil filter element must be changed at 25,000-miles/1-year. The specification on the oil is 25,000-miles/1-year, or longer with oil analysis testing. More detailed information on the differences between the two oils can be read here.
6.4L Power
Stroke engines have an EGR system and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
on the exhaust system and must use the AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40
Premium API CJ-4 Diesel Oil, product code DEO.
This is the only choice due to the DPF. The change interval is
recommended for the longest service interval established by the
engine, vehicle or equipment manufacturer. Drain intervals may be
extended based on oil analysis.
If you are interested in by-pass oil filtration we offer an AMSOIL by-pass system specifically for the 6.0 Power Stroke. The AMSOIL by-pass system is a superior filtration system that utilizes advanced filtration technology to provide your engine with a continuous, contaminate free flow of lube oil: Parts Required: - AMSOIL Aluminum Billet Oil Filter Cap (part # BK-1101) - Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap (part # BK-1102) - BP-242 90 Degree JIC Elbows (4 reqd.) - One BMK-11 Single Remote By-Pass System - One EABP-100 By-Pass Filter - Note that bracket fabrication is necessary as well as the purchase of extra hydraulic line. Please contact me for more specific information and ordering. AMSOIL also offers an FFK60 fuel filter element for the 6.0 Power Stroke AMSOIL offers the Donaldson Severe Duty PowerCore Air Filter Part #P603577 for the 6.0 Power Stroke. The AMSOIL/Donaldson PowerCore Air box has over 80 patents and utilizes technology that no other company has and achieves a 99.98%+ efficiency rating. This is the same filtration technology used on the M1-Abrams military combat tanks.
Transmission Fluid The 5-speed Torqshift automatic transmission uses the AMSOIL Universal ATF which is recommended for the Ford SP specification. The change interval specification is 100,000 miles under normal service or 50,000 miles for severe service.
Gear/Differential Fluids The front and rear differentials use the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 Gear Lube. No friction modifier is required. AMSOIL does offer a friction modifier called Slip Lock in the rare event that a limited slip differential develops chatter on turns. 75W-90 gear lube is recommended by many other manufacturers because it is more fuel efficient than a 75W-140. Ford uses a 75W-140 synthetic gear lube in the rear axles of all production trucks. Chevy prefers 75W-90 mainly due to fuel economy concerns for CAFE. I personally recommend the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W-140 because during extensive severe durability testing performed by Ford and Dana, the 75W-140 outperformed the 75W-90. That does not mean the 75W-90 is not good to use, just that the 75W-140 is better under certain severe conditions. Most front differentials recommend 75W-90 or 80W-90 because the front axle is typically not used very much so they can get by with a lower cost oil. You do not need AMSOIL Slip Lock friction modifier unless you hear chatter on turns, which only happens in a very small percentage of applications. In some rare cases, if you do hear chatter on turns, then you will need to install a bottle of AMSOIL's Slip-Lock Differential Additive. Its convenient flip-top dispenser provides quick and easy application to the gear housing. One four-ounce bottle of Slip-Lock treats differential capacities of two to four quarts.
AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate Performance Fuel Additive AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate (ADF) provides maximum diesel operating efficiency. It compensates for the variances in quality of different fuels (including biodiesel) and the deficiencies of today’s Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel (ULSD) for better engine operation. New engine technology, tighter tolerances and emissions regulations require high quality diesel fuel for long-term engine operatibility. AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate improves diesel fuel quality to exceed today’s stringent performance requirements. AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate extends equipment life, lowers operating costs and improves diesel performance. AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate provides the following benefits:
Use one ounce of AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate to five gallons of fuel. High fuel prices are increasing operating costs for everyone. AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate has proven in industry standard tests to improve fuel economy in used diesel engines by up to five percent. At $3.00 per gallon for diesel fuel, even a modest three percent improvement in fuel economy equals a savings of $0.09 per gallon. With a treat rate of one oz. of AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate to five gallons of fuel, at U.S. Preferred Customer/Dealer prices the net treat cost of AMSOIL ADF is $0.06 per gallon, bringing the total savings to $0.03 per gallon and negating the cost of AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate altogether.
AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow Improver Combining AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate with a cold flow improvement property is not cost effective in the summer months, or to AMSOIL customers who live in the south. To keep costs down for Dealers and customers, AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate no longer includes a cold flow improver. Instead, AMSOIL provides new AMSOIL Diesel Cold Flow Improver (DFF) for low-temperature applications below 40°F. Recommended mix ratio is one ounce of additive per five gallons of fuel. AMSOIL Cetane Boost will raise cetane levels up to 7 points for improved performance and fuel economy. This should get you started. Do not become overwhelmed by all there is to do.
